Lillian Esther Fritz died on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa. 

She was born March 21, 1918 in Marquette, Iowa to Carl and Ethel (Winegar) Zahn. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1937. Lillian was united in marriage with Donald L. Fritz on Dec. 10, 1939, from this union one daughter was born, Bonnie Lynn (Smith) on Oct. 11, 1942.

Lillian enjoyed decorating her home, playing bridge and dancing at White Springs in McGregor. She was a member of the First Congregational UCC Church since 1940, she served as secretary for the fellowship meetings and as a Sunday school teacher. Along with her husband, Lillian owned and operated the Mar-Mac Clothing in McGregor, Iowa. She was later employed at the McGregor Pharmacy until her retirement in 1994. Lillian enjoyed traveling with her husband of 66 years to visit family in Ohio. 

Lillian is survived by her son-in-law, Brian Smith; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. 

Lillian was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred in 1931 and Doretta in 2010; brother, Edwin in 1936; her husband, Donald in 2005 and her daughter, Bonnie in 2013.

A memorial service will be at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 16, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home, McGregor, Iowa.
