Burton I. “Rinx” Walters, Jr., 72, of McGregor, died Friday, Jan. 13, at Crossing Rivers Health, Prairie du Chien, Wis. 

 

Burton was born on March 15, 1944, to Burton Sr. and Lorraine Violet (Schott) Walters in Sausalito, Calif. Burt was baptized and confirmed at First Congregation Church, McGregor. He graduated from Mar-Mac High School in 1962.

 

Burt was united in marriage with Donna Mae Davis on April 6, 1963 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua. He was a foreman at 3M in Maker Plant 2 for 36 years. Burt was an avid outdoorsman and he especially liked duck hunting, trapping and fishing. He enjoyed gardening, watching Chicago Cubs baseball and spending time with his springer spaniel. Burt was a member of the First Congregation Church, the McGregor Hook and Ladder Co #1, a founding member of Mar-Mac Rescue Squad and was a board member of the Pleasant Grove Cemetery Board in McGregor.

 

Burt is survived by his son, Burton (Ember Martin) Walters III of McGregor; and his daughter, Terri (Robert) Wall of McGregor; two grandchildren, Kayla (Dillon) Thompson of McGregor and Curtis Wall of McGregor; two step-grandchildren, Brandon and Shelby Martin, both of McGregor; one great grandchild, Allyssa Thompson and one sister, Marsha (Dan) Bickel of McGregor.

 

Burt was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Mae (Davis) Walters on Aug. 1, 2015; parents, Burton Sr. and Lorraine Violet (Schott) Walters and one brother, Richard “Rick” Walters.

 

In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to McGregor Hook and Ladder Co, Mar-Mac Rescue Squad or Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor.Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. memorial service at Thornburg- Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor. There will be a Private Family Burial at a later date. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, in McGregor, is helping the family with arrangements.
