Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce committee members are gearing up for the community's annual Stars and Stripes celebration on Saturday, July 1.

Monetary donations are currently being sought for the fireworks display that evening. Estimated cost of this year's fireworks is $4,400. "Your contribution will help us to provide our residents and visitors with a dazzling show to remember," said Emily Sadewasser, Chamber director.

Sponsors will be recognized on event posters, on the Chamber's website and will be announced during the event.

Volunteers sought

Volunteers are also needed for a variety of jobs: to sell tickets for inflatables, to bartend and to clean up the park following the event. Call the Chamber office at 252-2323 to sign up.

Parade entries

Entries are also being sought for the annual parade to be held that evening prior to the fireworks show. "It's a great way to show off your business, organization, and talents," said Sadewasser.

This year's parade theme is "Celebrating Summer," and there will be prizes for the best entries. There is no entry fee and no advance registration. This year's parade will follow the same route as previous years — participants should meet at the staging area behind Meuser Lumber Company at 6 p.m. prior to the start of the parade at 7 p.m. The parade will head north on River Park Drive to the Guttenberg Area Veterans Monument.
