Roger Dale Witter, 72, of McGregor, Iowa died Friday, July 21, at his home. 

 

Roger was born May 17, 1945, to Herman and Mae (Voegeding) Witter in McGregor. He graduated from Mar-Mac High School and attended trade school for heavy equipment operating for one year in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

 

On Dec. 12, 1975, Roger was united in marriage to Linda Hammel at Giard United Methodist Church. He was devoted to the land he farmed all his life. He had a love for the mountains and was an avid hunter, fisherman, Iowa Hawkeye and Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed bowling and boating on the Mississippi River. He was a steadfast family man who enjoyed life, and was blessed to have so many wonderful friends.

 

Roger is survived by his loving wife Linda; two daughters, Beth Witter (Rick Mezera) of Marion, Iowa, and Allison (Rick) Thomas, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and adored grandson Elijah Manuel, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Nancy Kluesner, of Ferryville, and Mariann (LeRoy) Skaar, of Masonville, Colo.; a sister-in-law, June Witter, of Loveland, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law Keith and Laurie Hallberg and sister-in law Lisa Hammel, all of McGregor; plus many loving nieces and nephews.

 

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved son, Kurt; brother Carlton, and brother-in-law David Kluesner.

 

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, July 29, from at Maggie’s Diner, in McGregor, Iowa. Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Restore McGregor 2017 Tornado Fund, in care of Central State Bank, PO Box 9, Marquette, Iowa 52158. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.
