Joanne Jean Nagel, 75, of Eastman, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at the Bland-Bekkedahl Hospice Center in Viroqua after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born March 23, 1943, at her grandparents’ home in Seneca, to Louis and Lucille (Sutton) Fradette. Joanne grew up in and spent the majority of her life in the Seneca area, graduating Seneca High School in 1961. In 1963, Joanne married Everette Reynolds and had two sons, Jim and Roger.

Joanne led her life to help others. She survived many challenges in her early life, but her strengths shone in raising her two young sons on the family farm. During this time, she also managed to work for Dr. Borne, then at the Kickapoo Orchard, and eventually at Advance Transformer where she retired after 35 years. In 1979, she married the love of her life, Ron Nagel, had their daughter Rhonda, and together led a remarkable life on that farm. Joanne had time for everyone. Whether to tell a quick story with a lesson attached, or to drive others to doctor appointments, she was always willing to lend a hand. She was immensely proud of reaching the 16 gallon mark for blood donation. Additionally, she was an active church member. She loved to attend concerts, school plays and sporting events. Joanne also enjoyed traveling with Ronnie, nature, and living in “God’s Country.” It has been said that she did so much, for so many, for so long.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Tracy) Reynolds, Rhonda (Phillip) Wurster and Roger Reynolds (Ernie Michael); and her precious granddaughter Ally Wurster. She is also survived by siblings, Ethel (Dale) Wright, Gale (Bob) Slane, Dale, Donald (Joanne) and Louis Fradette III. Additionally, she is survived by many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law, dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, “adopted grandchildren,” extended family members, neighbors, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Ron, her parents, her brother Frances, and her very dear aunt Edna Scoville.

Services will be held at the Eastman United Methodist Church, on Saturday, Jan. 26, with the visitation at 10 a.m., and the memorial service at 1 p.m., with lunch to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

The family wishes to thank Jerry and Brenda Nagel for their loving care of Joanne for the last few months, as well as the staff at Bland-Bekkedahl Hospice Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family or to the Bland-Bekkedahl Hospice Center.
