Patricia Mae Dickens, 70, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., formerly of McGregor, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, following a brief illness. She was born on June 16, 1949 in Iowa City, the daughter of Frankie and Bernice (Cavanaugh) Harry.

On Dec. 12, 1967, Patricia was united in marriage with Harvey LeRoy Dickens in Manchester. They moved to the Giard area, where Pat worked for 27 years as a cook at White Springs Supper Club and raised their family there. Later, after Harvey’s death on May 12, 1997, she moved to Prairie du Chien, where she worked as a resident caregiver at the Crossing Rivers Walter Schmidt Assisted Living Center for 18 years. Pat has always been known for her kind, loving heart and devotion to family. She touched the lives of many with her love for caregiving, cooking and baking, and those around her knew that there would always be an abundance of hugs and kisses whenever she was nearby. Pat found joy in taking care of others, treating them as family and always doing so with a smile. It was her passion for cooking that later led her to Huckleberry’s Restaurant, where she worked as a prep cook for the last 12 years. In her spare time, Pat’s enthusiasm for sports involved cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Bucks, while rarely missing a game. Her laughter and her smile were a gift that she often shared with those around her.

Pat is survived by her three children, Terry (Darcy) Dickens of Monona, Tracy (Wade) Hebel and Tammy (Jeff) DuCharme, both of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; step-daughter, Sue (John) Dorszynski of Greendale, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, Ciara (Matt) Blake, Samantha Dickens (Justin Baxa), Tony (Mara) Dickens, Ronnie Hebel (Jenna Jones), Kelsey Hebel, Laura DuCharme, Clayton DuCharme, Kylie Hebel, Melissa Dickens and Michele (Wes) Merk; seven great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jase and Lila Mae Blake, Skyler Dickens, Mason Mikolajczak, Wyatt and Miles Merk; four sisters, Shirley “Anne” Welsh of Charles City, Judy Blockhaus of West Union, Joyce Harry of Monona, and Goldie Kelley of Tipton; and several nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 30 years, Harvey Dickens; her parents, Frankie and Bernice Harry; and two brothers, Donald Harry and Frank Harry Jr.
