National Guard tests over 300 Prairie Industries employees


Prairie Industries’ employees in Prairie du Chien, approximately 320 of them, were all tested for COVID-19 in the parking lot of the company’s east plant Tuesday. The individual nasal swabs were conducted for about eight hours by members of a Wisconsin National Guard specimen collection team. Thomas Michael Check

Thomas Michael Check Jr., 90, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at Cedar Crest, Janesville.

He was born in Wauzeka, on June 15, 1929, the son of Thomas and Orpha (Mindham) Check.

Tom married Loretta Gillitzer at St. Gabriel’s Church on Oct. 15, 1951. Loretta preceded him in death on April 9, 2010.

Wauzeka-Steuben announces 2020 valedictorian and salutatorian

Jacob Reichmann has been named the valedictorian and Ravyn Krachey the named the salutatorian of the Wauzeka-Steuben High School Class of 2020.  

Jake plans to attend UW-Madison next fall to major in biology. He plans to pursue a career in the medical field.
