River Ridge’s football season came to an end Friday night as host Black Hawk-Warren defeated the Timberwolves 49-7 in a WIAA Division 7 Level 3 playoff game Friday night. 

Black Hawk scored 8 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second to take a 22-0 lead at halftime.

Excellent season ends for River Ridge girls

The River Ridge volleyball team made the trek up to Dodgeland High School in Juneau on Saturday night to take on the Waterloo Pirates. The Pirates were ranked second in the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association poll and they were a number one seed. River Ridge was the number 3 seed but had taken out Wisconsin Heights, a number 2, and Brodhead, a number 1 seed. The Lady Timberwolves were ranked ninth in the WVCA poll.

Jacob Reichmann was 32nd out of 149 runners in Division 3.

 

Two area cross country runners competed in the State Cross Country Meet held at The Ridge’s Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday. 

Meg Katzung, a junior from Prairie du Chien, ran in her third consecutive trip to the state meet and finished 53rd out of 151 runners in the Division 2 girls meet in a time of 20:34.2.

Top-seeded Iowa Grant defeated visiting and second-seeded Seneca three games to one in a WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal volleyball match Thursday night. 

Iowa Grant won by scores of 25-16, 19-25, 25-16 and 25-11 as Seneca’s season came to an end.

Seneca was the regional champion and also won the Ridge and Valley Conference championship with a 7-0 conference record.

Third-seeded River Ridge beat sixth-seeded and visiting Belleville in a five-set thriller in a Division 3 regional semifinal Thursday night. 

The Lady Timberwolves were victorious by scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-14, 11-25, and 15-5 to improve to 20-0 on the season.
